Princess Diana’s silk tie is about to go to auction, and as you can imagine, that’s a pretty big deal. The accessory that she wore in 1994 is expected to fetch up to £3,000 — but, would you be willing to fork out that sort of sum? And besides, we've got to ask, would you actually wear it?
As a nation, it’s fair to say we go pretty soppy for a royal. When K-Mid steps out in ASOS, we all flock to our browsers, and when Prince William talks babies, we all go weak at the knees. So, it comes as no surprise that when put under the hammer, possessions of Princess Di go for crazy amounts of money. Now, her printed Escada tie goes up for auction next week, and is listed as an “important" piece by Reeman Dansie auctioneers. Teamed with a matching Escada suit, she wore it to visit her newborn nephew in 1994, before gifting it to a friend’s daughter with the inclusion of a note reading “lots of love from Diana.”
Up for auction next week, complete with said note, it's no doubt a piece of history. But we have to ask: How much would you pay to have a piece of the princess' wardrobe to mix in among your own? (Telegraph)
