New York City means something different to everyone. From local boutiques to small cafés, big museums, and Broadway, the Big Apple is home to a plethora of sights, sounds, and tastes, each of which connects with visitors and natives on an individual level.
This summer, DKNY is making good on that fact and sharing 10 visual-artists' interpretations of NYC with the world. After DKNY's original Houston Street mural — featuring the New York skyline and Statue of Liberty — gained iconic status between 1992 and 2008, the label recently commissioned artists from 10 cities around the world to create their own NYC-inspired pieces for the #DKNYARTWORKS collection. The art will be presented through the DKNY logo as outdoor installations at London's Piccadilly Circus, New York's Yankee Stadium, Hong Kong's Canton Road, and more locations across the globe.
For those wishing they could have a slice of NYC in their own homes, online auction-house Paddle8 is one step ahead of you. The participating artists have donated their work to supportFree Arts NYC, an organization providing educational arts and mentoring programs to underserved children in the city. The auction runs until June 29, culminating in a final dinner event at the Montauk Beach House.
Click through the slideshow to see the colorful works of art both as stand-alone pieces, as well as in their international homes. Then get your paddles out and let the bidding begin.
