Woody Allen's next writer-director picture stars Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, and, apparently, Louis C.K. That, and it takes place in San Francisco. Just let that all sink in for a minute.
Now, although the trailer may leave something to be desired — namely, anything more than just a quick shot of Louis when the word "loser" is mentioned — we're thinking this could be pure gold. It definitely seems like Blanchett at her best; plus, it might be more pleasing to veteran Allen fans than some of his latest works. Given the mood of this trailer, it feels like something in between the sometimes heavy-handed, intensely dramatic Match Point and his more typically neurotic comedic forays. Either way, we're definitely seeing Blue Jasmine when it comes out on July 26, if only for what promises to be a one-off Louis C.K. moment on a par with Will Ferrell's appearance in Wedding Crashers.
