Exclusive: Kim Gordon's Personal Rap Playlist For "Traumatized Times"

There were numerous things to glean from Kim Gordon's heartrending interview with Elle about her breakup with her husband, Thurston Moore, and recent breast cancer scare, but one tidbit we thought was particularly interesting was Gordon's mention of hip-hop to help deal with her heartbreak.
"Rap music is really good when you’re traumatized," the Sonic Youth singer told the magazine. Since there's no one walking the planet we can think of with better taste than Gordon, we needed to find out what artists were in her therapeutic hip-hop rotation. So, to get the lowdown on what Gordon was bumping when she was down in the dumps, we did the only thing we could think of — we asked her.
What follows is an exclusive collection of hip-hop tracks — or "Traumatized Good Times Tunes," as she likes to call them — and artists that Gordon herself recommended to us. From Brooklyn new kid on the block, Joey Bada$$ to trailblazing Detroit MC, Boss, these are the tracks to listen to in times of trouble. Elliott Smith had nothing on these folks.
