We’ve Got The Scoop On Tavi’s Birthday Bash At Storefront Company

Last week, we told you that Tavi Gevinson would be spinning at Debonair Social Club in celebration of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s screening of Cadaver, the award-winning short. The fete went down last night (hope you checked it out!), but the fun didn't end there. There is always an after-party — and, in this case, it also happened to be Tavi's intimate 17th birthday celebration at Storefront Company.
Gevinson arrived at 8 p.m., but she wasn't dressed in one of her traditional statement getups. Instead, she sported denim overalls, a gray T-shirt, and white Converse sneaks. Hey, a gal has a right to wear whatever the she wants on her birthday. She celebrated with her parents, family friend/writer/director of Cadaver, Jonah Ansell, and Jonah’s parents. Tavi noshed on the signature cheese plate and beet-cured salmon bites, while Jonah experimented with the restaurant’s new spring dish, gurnard (a fish) served with dumplings, greens, and mustard.
But the icing on the cake — literally and figuratively — was a chocolate fudge creation topped with vanilla buttercream frosting and kumquat syrup, created by pastry chef Kym DeLost. And she walked away with more than a belly full of good eats. She was also presented with a print by local artist Gary Weidner of the restaurant’s 34-by-13-foot mixed-media mural. Not a bad way to ring in 17 in our opinion. While you may not have been invited, click through to peep snaps of Tavi's low-key birthday bash.
