Rhye: (le) Poisson Rouge, April 17, $20
Super sensual alt R&B act Rhye may have made the best baby-making album so far this year, and the L.A. duo's show at (le) Poisson Rouge should be a great opportunity to get intimate with the band. If you don't bring a date, chances are you'll be able to find one at the show.
Wednesday, April 17, 6:30 p.m., (le) Poisson Rouge,158 Bleecker Street (between Thompson and Sullivan streets); 212-353-3474.
Clinic: Glasslands, April 19, $15
While famed Liverpudlian post-punkers Clinic are playing a much larger concert this week at (le) Poisson Rouge, the band's appearance Friday at Glasslands is the one to catch. The show is an uncharacteristically small venue for the masked rockers, whose keyboard driven rock is one of the more consistently fun live shows around.
Friday, April 19, 8:30 p.m., Glasslands 289 Kent Ave (between South 1st and South 2nd streets); Brooklyn; 718-599-1450.
Aimee Mann and Ted Leo: Webster Hall, April 20, $35
Legendary alt-rock singer/songwriter Aimee Mann will team up with power-pop maestro Ted Leo for a show at Webster Hall. While either of these two could easily headline the venue on their own, seeing them play together should be a real treat. The two have been working together on a collaborative project together called #BOTH, so get excited for some new material along with the classics.
Saturday, April 20, 7 p.m., Webster Hall, 125 East 11th Street (between 3rd and 4th avenues); 212-353-1600.
