Is Keira Knightley Too Sexy For Children?

Keira Knightley’s Chanel Coco Mademoiselle advert has recently come under fire by the Advertising Standards Authority. A complaint was made about the advert being shown during a performance of Ice Age 2. The complainant queried whether “the ad was suitable to be broadcast during a film that was likely to appeal to children.”

Okay, let’s consider the facts. In the advert, Keira’s character is at a photo shoot. There is some definite flirting with the photographer. He unzips her clothes while she lies on a bed. Soon she is in nothing but a bed sheet. She moves towards the photographer, looks like she might kiss him, but puts a finger to her lips and motions for him to lock the door. He does as he's told, and in the next shot is she is nowhere to be seen. That’s it.

Yes there is obvious tension between the pair, but nothing actually happens. Is this too much for little peoples’ minds? Chanel doesn't seem to think so, claiming that the advert embodied the life force of Coco Chanel herself.

The ASA wasn’t buying it and upheld the complaint and banned it from being broadcast near children’s programming.

Storm in a teacup? Or a sensible decision? You decide — in the comments, of course. (The Telegraph)
