Sister Act: Did Rooney & Kate Mara Swap Styles?

We swear, some sets of celeb siblings could easily pass as twins, what with the nearly identical wardrobes and matching genes (Penélope and Mónica Cruz, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Sienna and Savannah Miller, to name a few). But, while Rooney and Kate Mara both have deep appreciations for designer duds (Rodarte! Givenchy! Dior!), each embodies her own red-carpet personality. Simply put, Rooney tends to go goth, while Kate prefers pretty.
But sometimes, Mercury is in retrograde, opposities attract, or people just feel like trying something new — as was the case at the Side Effects premiere last night in NYC. The raven-haired, two-time Vogue cover gal arrived in a panelled velvet and macramé cape dress from Alexander McQueen, which totally could've been copped from her sister's wardrobe of lovely and lacy frocks. Meanwhile, Kate channeled Rooney's Girl With The Dragon Tattoo-vibe in an LBD and embellished clutch. Of course, the sisters stepped out in outfit-appropriate kicks, and the sole similarity of the evening — both pairs were courtesy of Nicholas Kirkwood.
As the yin to the other's yang, it's certainly hard to chose a fave — and maybe that's the point. A one-two (seriously sartorial) punch, if you will.
