While we were definitely distraught when we found out that one of our favorite local bands, Girls, was throwing in the towel, we were instantly appeased once we heard that the disheveled-haired frontman was queuing up to release a solo album. So, we sat around, waiting with bated breath, getting our Christopher Owens fix through YSL ads and MOCA art exhibits.
Well, now the wait is over, and Owens' much-anticipated LP is finally here (it was released just days ago), and it’s already been in constant rotation on our Spotify playlist. Lysandre (the title of Owens’ new solo endeavor) isn’t a far cry from the melodic hits that brought Girls its well-deserved praise. Owens sticks with the things we love the most — from the introspective lyrics and mix of cool upbeat jams and slower, more droned-out tunes. Our personal favorite is "New York City." If you haven’t heard, we think you need to stop what you’re doing and stream this sucker immediately. (Spotify)
