The Newest Face Of Saint Laurent Is…Beck, Is That You?

For Saint Laurent's newest menswear campaign, Hedi Slimane obviously was influenced by his own photography for Hedi Slimane Diary — black and white, heavy on the chiaroscuro, and featuring skinny, tattooed man-children who are most likely nursing a half-smoked cigarette in the shadows.
In this case, his subject wasn't a L.A. skateboarder/model/high schooler, but rather close friend Beck. The third musician to appear in Saint Laurent's campaigns (the first two being Christopher Owens from Girls and Tom Burke from Citizens!), Beck stars in the ads wearing spring '13 Saint Laurent and the man versions of those floppy hats we saw from the spring '13 women's collection.
While the styling, photography, and subjects of the ads are from Hedi himself, the clothes aren't quite; his first men's collection designed under his hand debuts at Men's Fashion Week in just a few days. (GQ)
