Did you buy something on Cyber Monday? Congratulations, you're part of history. The Internet's version of Black Friday is always a huge day for shopping, but this year, it was bigger than ever. Official numbers aren't in yet, but sales were definitely above last year's $1.25 billion, as well as the projected $1.5 billion.
But who was reaping the benefits of all that cash? Apparently, the most searched-for items on eBay were Ugg boots, Louis Vuitton and Coach handbags, Michael Kors watches, and The North Face women's fleeces. Well, at least America knows what it wants. Nasty Gal also had its highest sales day ever.

Nearly 93% of online retailers sent out promotional e-mails (as you can tell by your overflowing inbox), and that was the main driver of sales, unlike Facebook- and Twitter-driven purchases, which dropped significantly. On the other hand, aggregator site ShopStyle drove 2.8 million people to various stores on Monday alone. One thing we were surprised to hear? Mobile purchases are rising dramatically. That makes sense for eBay, where a bidding war gets more intense by the second, but other retailers experienced the same phenomenon. Nasty Gal saw a whoopping 86% of sales come from tablets and mobile devices.
This is all well and good. But can someone please explain why all this online shopping does nothing to alleviate the hours we spent bushwhacking our way through crowds the Friday before? C'mon, people! (WWD)
