Instead of showing at New York Fashion Week, L’Wren Scott posted her entire collection on Instagram yesterday. Who could blame her? Most presentations are shorter than 10 minutes, yet can cost upwards of $100,000.
We applaud her rather unorthodox choice, but we can't help but lament what is lost in the use of social media, like Instagram and Twitter, to present a collection. Nothing can replace seeing a line in three dimensions. The details, craftsmanship, and motion of each piece cannot be captured in photos or, sometimes, even video. Still, this is an amazing new approach to fashion, which, despite the influence of the Internet, can still be woefully exclusive. (The Cut)
