Is This The Color We'll Be Seeing All Awards Season Long?
marigold

Watching the Emmys tonight, we saw Jimmy Kimmel demonstrate how to host an entertaining awards show, Julia Louis-Dreyfus illustrate a perfect acceptance speech, and then, got a general peek into the chromatic crystal ball of the coming awards seasons. The future, dear readers, is bright. Marigold bright, to be precise.

Not only did marigold present itself as a trend, but the hue also proved to be a bit of a good-luck charm. The evening's leading ladies, big winners Julianne Moore and Claire Danes, both rocked the buttery color. (Moore won for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her turn as Sarah Palin in Game Change, and a glowing, pregnant Danes won Best Actress In A Dramatic Series for Homeland.) While Leslie Mann's main squeeze Judd Apatow didn't walk away with any wins for Girls, the freshman show was healthily recognized in the nominations, so the evening still felt like a win. (We can't help but wonder what would have happened if Leslie had worn head-to-toe yellow, like Claire and Julianne? Would that have turned the tide?)
