Stefano Pilati Gets Back To Work, Heads To Ermenegildo Zegna

Ermahgerd, Ermenegildo! Stefano Pilati, former creative director of Yves Saint Laurent (now under the helm of Hedi Slimane), has recently been picked up by Italian brand Ermenegildo Zegna — likely the only label that your man pal can pronounce. Zegna hopes that Pilati will be able to revamp its men's line, as well as the women's franchise, Agnona. In addition, he'll be overseeing the Ermenegildo Zegna couture collection. Pilati will start working as Zegna's head of design on January 1, and will show his first men's collection and Agnona cruise collection in June. Though Zegna's not a heavy hitter in the womenswear world, Pilati's appointment means that the brand's going to get serious about outfitting the modern, fashion-forward woman. However, while we're hoping for a facelift akin to Kenzo's, we're expecting a more subtle, simple elevation of the brand and its visibility; Pilati's own design aesthetic is very much in-line with Zegna's sharp, sleek traditionalism and luxurious construction, so we don't forsee any surprises.
