Video: This Rachel Comey Documentary Is An Oh-So-Pretty Respite

The backstage of a fashion show is an environment that is not often—if ever—described as tranquil. Between finishing final details, hair, makeup, and rapid wardrobe changes, long limbs are flailing and tensions are high. However, this is not the scene a new short film that shows off Rachel Comey's beautiful spring 2011 line. Shot by acclaimed documentarian Margaret Brown in collaboration with her friend, writer, and creative director Courtney Saunders, the two filmmakers capture all the precision and preparation that occurred behind the scenes at Comey's spring '11 show, but present the quick-paced space as if it were all a pretty dream. A violin and guitar duo provide a lyrical score (the recording of which is actually the group's rehearsal before they performed during the show itself), that sets the careful rhythm of this ethereal film that allows us to see the mysterious inner-workings of a fashion show, as well as the close-up beauty of the clothes and girls that wear them in a quiet and intimate manner. Peep the video below—it's sure to give you a moment of peace and put a smile on your face amid a busy day.
